It's been a dry second half of the summer, we need rain in this part of Kentucky.  The fall colors are out now on the trees.  It's getting chilly in the mornings, but then warms up good in the afternoons.

The Rose of Sharon trees are blooming heavy this spring.  We do have hundreds all planted from cuttings.  We have Pink, Purple and White.  They re-seed themselves and grow baby trees by the hundreds each spring.  They are great trees to have to keep the bees at your farm for the garden.  You need to have lots of flowers for the bees to feed on.  The Rose of Sharon flowers will stay from the middle of June till the frost gets them.  All summer blooms.

The trees are getting a lot of leaves now, starting to look really green across the valley.  The Maple seedlings are coming up.  Maple leaves beginning.  Rose of Sharon trees have small leaves.  The Lilac is in full bloom.  Yellow Mustard is up everywhere, making the farm land fields bright with yellow.  Dogwoods are blooming white and Red Buds are purple.

Spring is here in Central Kentucky.  These pictures were taken the first week of April, 2010.  The fruit trees are the first to come alive in spring.  It is a most beautiful time of the year, and with spring, we know winter is gone and we survived.

Bradford Pear Blossoms with tiny bees.  The tiny bees always know when to come to the blossoms.

Peach Tree Blossoms are the prettiest in pink.  We have several Peach trees on the farm.

Plum Tree Blossoms.  This very old Plum tree is very thorny. We planted a large root here and it grew many trees from the one root.  It was Grandpa's Plum tree root.

Apple Tree the first of April.  It is sending out leaves but the blossoms are not present yet.

Forsythia Tree down in pasture is in full spring mode with bright yellow.

The back pasture is just beginning to come to life.  You can see the leaves on the Oak trees in the wood line.

The Oak Trees are one of the first of the hardwoods to send out green leaves.
